Lens review: Flora Gerbera Blue

Hello hello!

Let's continue with the roll while it's going strong. Today is review day for the Flora Gerbera Blue so let's get on with it!

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

I've reviewed some Gerbera lenses in other colors before and I still think that the design of these look like a 'burst' effect or flowery. It comes with a thick black limbal ring but it's not ultra mega black. You will still get dolly eyes and look super pretty with glistening, colorful eyes.

When you look at the lenses in their vials they don't look super opaque. I was not expecting the most intense color ever but once I tried them on the blue is actually quite vibrant and packs a punch! I don't think I can call it all that natural but it's lively, it's beautiful and you can get lost in the mesmerizing pattern.

One lens in.

There's a pretty okay blending effect towards the center, merging the lens with whatever your real eye colori is. Because I have light blue-gray eyes it isn't super obvious and jarring where the edge of the lens meets my eye and also, the colored pigments of the lens are more sparse towards the pupil opening anyway, allowing for a discreet transition. I just feel like in, at least my case as a light-eyed person, that the random black dots at the center kinda mess up the natural illusion that the blending would otherwise achieve. If we ignore the huge size and somewhat artsy print of the lenses.

When it comes to comfort these seem okay-ish? I do feel them in my eyes but it's not in an unpleasant way and they generally seem decent. I felt like they might have been a bit on the thicker side when compared to the really thin lenses that I've been trying lately, but I can't be sure. I honestly can't give any more details regarding comfort as I've already mentioned several times on previous reviews that my comfort grades on recent lenses will be based on first impressions only, because the lenses have expired by the time I get around to do these reviews, sadly. :'( Just had way too much stressful real-life shit going on and no energy to blog and review as actively as I should have. *sigh*

Oh well, the Flora Gerbera Blue is a cute, fancy lens that has youthful vibes to it. I can see it used for some cosplays and alternative fashion but it might also be suitable for more toned-down daily looks looking for a splash of color. It's a fairly big dolly lens though, so if that's not up your alley you might want to consider getting a pair with a smaller limbal ring. But if you like blue lenses that have some pop to them then go ahead!

Seems okay. I sligtly feel them (thicker than average maybe?) but otherwise no issues. Wearing time something like 3-4 hours on super dry eyes, estimated.

Ignore the size and general design and it's not too out there... I guess.

Lens review: RevoColour Romantic Juicy Red

And my lens review roll continues. Trying to catch up here real hard, yo. 

Today is time for the Revo Colour Romantic Juicy Red, which I think might be exclusive to HoneyColor as I have not seen them anywhere else. This is also my first non-crazy RevoColour review so woop!

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

I remember all those years ago when these lenses first released, I was super excited to try them out. But I waited and waited until a sale came by and then I jumped at my chance! I swear I'm so cheap that I almost never buy lenses at full price, unless it's like a con emergency.

It feels funny to say it but I guess these would fall into the "natural red" category, not like red lenses can ever, in all seriousness, be called natural but yeah, you know. It's not one of those screaming, Halloween type of red lenses that make you look possessed and thirsty for blood. No. It's actually a fairly modest red lens, still obviously red but it feels like... controlled.

One lens in.

It's a fairly sizable lens and I guess dolly in a way, despite lacking any notable dark limbal ring. The edges of the lens look smooth, almost feathered? It has a soft appearance overall and despite red being a color that makes bulls go angry I actually feel a strange sense of calm staring at these lenses.

The red color itself is a medium shade, kinda rich I guess. It covers a decent amount of the surface and does a tremendous job at blending into my real eye color at the center, especially when you factor in that it's a highly unnatural color (no shit Sherlock) and thus easily looks extremely fake. The size of the pupil hole doesn't bother me either, this is pretty much the standard size for circle lenses and how much you can expect of a lens center to be uncolored.

It's a really likable red lens for those that dig red lenses and for those that are curious to try. I can definitely see it working for cosplay, alternative fashion and why not a whole slew of monsters too. :D It's fun, it's gorgeous despite what red lenses most likely makes you think about. Yeah, I think romantic and juicy in the name still somehow fits with these, lol. Honestly, consider these if you want more realistic red lenses for whatever is your game. 

Comfort is estimated as I only did this review quickly and then threw the lenses as the expiry date had sadly passed (boo). But based on my first and only impression the lenses felt really thin and generally okay to wear, except that the other lens made my eye tear up like mad and felt itchy for a few minutes before it eventually settled. Could just have been dirt or something but worth mentioning anyway. I'd estimate wearing time somewhere between 2-4 hours on my desert level dry eyes, you can easily add a couple hours if you were blessed with more normal eyes lol.

Simple but really versatile and semi-realistic pattern. Works for a lot of purposes.

Great coverage, I have no complaints. Even the blending is great.
Enlargement: 6/10
Fairly big but not insane dolly level. Wearable for most.
Comfort: 6/10
Can't give a fair, tested grade but seemed thin and decent, save for the other lens making my eye tear up and felt some sort of stingy for a few minutes before it disappeared.
Naturalness: 2/10
I want to scream "it's fucking red, of course it's not natural!" but I swear these have that something that makes them not look all wacky and more if-humans-had-red-eyes type of thing...

Lens review: Vassen Rainbow Eyes Pinkish Brown

Hello poodles!

I have a batch of lens reviews waiting for their turn and today it's the Vassen Rainbow Eyes Pinkish Brown that is served, also sometimes known as simply Vassen Rainbow Eyes Pink. I decided to classify these as brown though as that's the primary color that they look like, despite actually being a duo-tone lens with both pink and brown evenly.

Diameter: 14.5 mm

Water content: 42% 

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

I bought these on sale and because I was curious. Not like I had any high expectations as I went in knowing that this will most likely be a soft, natural lens. And it is. In fact it's a realistic lens that, despite its two colors, look believable and casual – thanks to its perfect, smooth blending that saves the lenses from having a harsh transition from lens to eye at the pupil opening.

The color split is fifty-fifty brown and pink, but since brown is the stronger color of the two that's the one that takes the most space. The pink isn't completely erased once the lens goes onto your eye but it's just more like a hue than an actual pink lens, hence pinkish brown in the name I guess? Just don't get these if you expect to get pink lenses as you'll be disappointed.
Also, the farther away the viewer is, the more brown and dark the lenses look. The pink is mainly visible only when up close, or in really good light conditions.

One lens in.

I feel like these are meant to be a daily lens, more like an enhancing type than a completely-change-your-appearance type. It might just be me but these mainly just color the edges of my eyes, leaving the center bare with my own eye color being completely visible. It's still cute but if you're looking for a costuming or more covering lens then keep looking. This is more like a "pimp up your eyes" lens to add a twist without really going all the way. Great for casual and daily looks when you want something extra but don't want to overdo it either.

It's a fun lens, it gives cheerful vibes and makes me somehow think of a more carefree life. A casual lens that is easy to pick up and insert into any looks and that won't need a lot of planning. You won't be scaring any grandmas and you'll most likely just look like your eyes are a bit extra fine and youthful that day.
The color is concentrated near the outer rims and the blending is super delicate, too bad that my eyes are light blue and not brown as the contrast is obvious and breaks the natural illusion, despite the super fine soft hue blending at the edges. I think it would look better on dark eyes personally but yeah, if you like this kind of 'oomph' contrasting limbal ring look then by all means try these if you have light eyes.

Regarding comfort I'd say that based on my first impressions these were thin, invisible to wear and generally comfortable. I'd say around 4-5 hours on my dry-ass eyes, which is a lot. If you don't suffer from dry eyes you can probably wear them for like 6-8 hours or such.

Don't go in expecting pink lenses. Looks a medium darkish brown more often than not, still nice though.

A duo-tone design that's cute and cheerful.

It's more opaque than I initially expected but sadly a lot of my real eye color shows at the center, making this more of an enhancing lens than a full-out color changing lens.
Enlargement: 5/10
Medium I'd say, a bit hard to judge.

Comfort: 7/10 

Appears really comfy, thin and I don't feel them. 4-5 hours estimated wearing time on super dry eyes, you can most likely add at least 2 hours more.
Naturalness: 6/10

Very dependent on your eye color. Would probably be natural on brown eyes, not so much for me as the brown provides such a contrast. Cool though if that's the look you're going for.

Lens review: EOS New Adult Gray

Hello peeps!

It's time for the first lens review of the year and yeah, I should have done like a dozen reviews by now but shit happened. ^^" I have a huge backlog of lenses that I need to review and, sadly, the expiration date is past on a majority of them (by a month or such, nothing terrible) so I quite frankly just take the review photos and then immediately throw them away – ain't gambling my sight any more than necessary. This also means that all mentions regarding comfort are based on first impressions and estimates only, on this review and on upcoming reviews for like a couple months ahead, while I work through getting up to date.

Okay so, today is the day for EOS New Adult Gray (also sometimes known as Blytheye Gray), quite honestly one of my favorite gray cosplay lenses on the market right now. I can't quite put my finger on what with these lenses is so alluring but I swear there's something about them that just speaks volumes to me. And I don't even care for gray lenses normally lol.

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

Chances are that by now you've at the very least heard about the EOS New Adult series – it's a long-running and highly popular circle lens with a medium smallish size and great color, favored by cosplayers in particular. Not to be confused with the EOS Adult series, the predecessor to the New Adult that were paler and more natural overall. Tbh I'm not sure if the original Adult series are still being produced or if they were discontinued some years ago, but the New Adult sure is going strong.

Always put lenses to soak at least the night before wearing them. Don't ask, just do it. It's better for your eyes. Like really.

One lens in.

The color is no doubt very costume friendly, it's a really pale and opaque gray that looks surreal in some way. It gives my eyes an instant mesmerizing, almost piercing gaze! It's honestly super pretty and makes me immediately think of beautiful supernatural beings like elves with crystal-like eyes and such. Nordic folklore also comes to mind.
I remember having a "whoah" reaction when I looked in the mirror, that's how striking the effect is in real life!

My natural eye color is a light blue-gray (gray-blue? whatever) and it goes really well with these lenses. I mean, sure, you can tell at the center where the lens ends and my real iris begins but it doesn't look that odd. There's no smooth fading effect to make the lenses blend at the pupil hole, but I don't think it matters all that much with lenses that are as vibrant as these as it wouldn't be able to achieve a hyper realistic blending anyway.

Such a shame the sun disappeared as soon as I was ready to take pics. Boo.

There is this thin limbal ring, adding definition but not overdoing it. The design itself is fairly simple but that's a good selling point as it makes for versatility. I'm not sure how well these would go for like daily looks as the color is quite bright and vibrant and it does stand out and look borderline ethereal, depending on the light. But definitely get these for any kind of costuming if you need a pale gray lens!

As I wrote above I can only grade comfort based on first impressions but I'll have you know that my eyes are ultra dry and sensitive, which means that anything with 4 hours or more of wearing time is really good in my case. With that said these lenses felt super thin, invisible and generally really comfortable to wear. I did not notice any stinginess, eyes tearing up or anything. Truth be told I didn't feel like I had lenses on at all! I suspect they would clock in at 4-5 hours for me, which is like 6-8 hours for someone blessed with less bitchy eyes, lol.
