Lens review: I.Fairy Persian Green

I'm gonna post another circle lens review today and the featured lens will be I.Fairy Persian Green. It's big, it's cute and overall it's a very likable lens I'd say. Keep reading to learn more!

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

 

I'm no stranger to I.Fairy's lenses and it's rare a day when I'd be disappointed by their products; I.Fairy is quite a staple brand in the market by now and if you're looking for big and colorful then that's where I would turn my wagon. :) I.Fairy lenses generally have a thick black rim around the edges too so a lot of their lenses are cutesy in design and suitable for j-fashion enthusiasts and cosplayers.

 

One lens in.

 

The Persian Greens are a light green lens with a thick black ring and and a yellowish inner circle. The color might look pale –when viewed in the glass bottles– and I had my fears that it wouldn't blend well with light-blue eyes (green lenses are so hit and miss!) but surprisingly the coverage is great! As in my eyes look clearly green with these, not muddled or this kind of indistinguishable swamp color lol. 

Oh and yeah, regarding the design it's quite simple but very effective all the same, although I can't help but have my mind immediately think of cucumbers when I look at it! xD I don't think there's a better way to explain the design lmao!

I can't utter many words about comfort. If you've been following my blog for a while you know what's up and because I'm lazy today (sorry!) I'm just gonna refer any new readers to check literally any other of my lens reviews from the past year or so and you'll know what's up. The tl;dr version is that these lenses had expired before I got to do this review and so I can't grade their comfort properly. The very limited time I wore these for the review I can say that they were thin, I barely felt them but there was a very slight itchy feeling at some point? Nevertheless I have naturally dry and sensitive eyes so it might just be a me thing.

And that's about all that I have to say. This is one of the better light green lenses currently on the market in my opinion – with a simple design and great color payoff they work great for many different fashion looks and styles! They're simple enough to not be overwhelming and the green shade is very pleasant and shows up a lot better than I initially thought it would. Oh and one thing more, these lenses can do the 'halo effect' in good light conditions, it's super pretty!

Simple cucumber-like print with a thick black rim. Cute and versatile design.

Opacity: 7/10

Positively surprised how well the green shows up! Blends decently too.

Enlargement: 7/10

Very clearly big but due to the lack of a pronounced black rim it's not as obviously dolly.

Comfort: 6/10

Thin and mostly invisible to wear. Slight itchy feeling. Rough estimation is 3-5 hours on naturally dry eyes.

Naturalness: 4/10

Way too big to be natural-looking but it's not particularly unsettling in any way either.

Lens review: RevoColour Twinkle Marine Blue

Hello summer bugs!

Today I think it's high time that I share another circle lens review with y'all over on the other side of the screen! I will be reviewing the RevoColour Twinkle Marine Blue, another color of the Twinkle series that sadly seems to have disappeared from the face of the Earth. :(

But before we get all gloomy let's get on with the review~

Base curve: 8.6 mm

Diameter: 14.5 mm

Water content: 45%

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

 

I really dig the design of these lenses and honestly am a bit sad that they seem unavailable nowadays. The patterning has these sorta bright colored areas that are alternated with transparent gaps; the gaps let your real eye color through but –instead of lessening the color coverage– the effect it provides is beautiful and really makes your eyes look shimmery and interesting.

There's a moderate enlargement effect, and by moderate I mean that it's not gonna morph you into a doll or something thanks to the subdued limbal ring; thick black limbal rings are usually thought to give a greater illusion of enlargement than off-black and less densely pigmented ones. If you look closely you'll notice that the limbal rim on these lenses actually consists of a lot of tiny dots, same with the blue color.

I'm not sure how to describe the blue color. It's not a super light shade but it's not a dark one either. It's pretty neatly in the middle and I don't really know what the proper name for the shade is but 'cerulean blue' comes to mind? Regardless of the proper term this is a lens that compliments my naturally gray-blue eyes really well! The color has just enough punch to it to stand out but without making your eyes look too extraordinary – it's like that perfect balance between vibrancy and sophistication.

There's not much I can say about comfort. If you've been following my blog for a while now it should be no surprise that these lenses were also part of the forgotten box. For those new to the blog the story goes that I had put a cardboard box, full with lenses, somewhere and forgotten about it for way too long. When I found it, after some years had passed, all the unopened lenses inside had expired. Since then I've just been reviewing these forgotten lenses and then immediately discarding them once I get all review photos taken.

Almost all of the expired lenses I've worn so far have been good to wear, but I'm not gonna take any additional risks for comfort testing so yeah, my comfort grades are purely based on my first –and only– experience of wearing the lenses. And yes, I strongly recommend that you never wear expired lenses, especially to events like anime conventions where you'd wear colored contact lenses for prolonged periods of time.

But yeah, back to the review at hand. Umm, so what little I can say regarding the comfort of this particular pair is that they were thin and I didn't really feel that I had lenses on. They appeared to be comfy and I had no issues with blurred vision or anything of the sort. I have naturally very dry and kinda sensitive eyes but these lenses seemed fine to me.

I do want to note though, especially for more inexperienced contact lens wearers, that I found the Twinkle series very difficult to tell apart which side of the lens is the right and wrong side. The difference in the curve is so minimal so that unless you're an avid circle lens wearer it's pretty damn hard to tell the difference!

 

I guess that about wraps it up. This is a beautiful blue lens, its not the most awe-inspiring out there but it's gorgeous nevertheless and has a nice balance between color and effect. Shame it's not available any more (or at least it heavily looks like it's been discontinued) or I would have recommended it.

A medium, calming blue shade. It's not hyper vibrant but it stands out and blends well with light eyes.

Design: 7/10
A somewhat youthful yet delicate design with a dark brown dotted rim. Very likable.

Opacity: 7/10
Contrary to expectations (the colored portions are half transparent!) the color coverage is really solid.
Enlargement: 6/10
You can tell there's an enlargement effect but it's a nice size for most people, not too big.
Comfort: 8/10
Appears to be really comfortable, thin and I hardly feel them in my eyes. Estimated 4-5 hours on naturally dry and sensitive eyes.
Naturalness: 5/10
Slightly too big to really pass and not the most down-to-earth blue shade, otherwise not a half bad try.

Lens review: RevoColour Twinkle Cherry Pink

 Hello in the house!

I will post a few circle lens reviews over the summer and the first up is going to be the RevoColour Twinkle Cherry Pink lenses which, in fact, are not very pink at all. :D I'll tap a little more on that further ahead but for now let's get straight to it!

First things first, these lenses are sooooo not pink. Like at all. These are red as all day. I even tried to google them to make absolutely sure that I'm not misremembering the color but I came upon the horror that these lenses apparently don't exist anymore; at some point after I bought them they have been completely pulled from the market as I could not find a single store selling them and that includes HoneyColor where I remember purchasing them. So sadly I can't double-check (although I'm 99% sure I did not write the wrong name before nuking my old email order receipts) and these lenses are unavailable as well. :( Which is a shame as I really liked the design, it's quite different from the most widely used circle lens designs with its dotted appearance and dark brown limbal ring.

One lens in.

As you can see on the photo above these don't really have the slightest nudge of pink in them, rather they're a medium intensity red and a bit on the darkish end of medium too. The patterning has colored areas alternated with transparent gaps that let your real eye color through, but interestingly enough it doesn't affect the perceived color opacity much at all (is this one of those "your brain fills in the gaps when you look at the photos" type of things? xD) and the effect it provides is beautiful and really makes your eyes look interesting and, well, eye-catching. I definitely don't feel like the perceived transparency of the lenses (especially when viewed in their vials) dampen the color coverage; all it does is make the lenses look unique and alluring without being overwhelming.

Oh and yeah, there's a moderate enlargement effect. It's not gonna make heads spin or turn you into a doll thanks to the subdued limbal ring and overall dotted-in-place coloring effect. It's not as intense as on more contemporary circle lenses with very prominent thick black rims.

I can't say much regarding comfort. Yes, these lenses were also part of the "stashed and forgotten for years" set. I figured that way I might help someone along the way and haven't completely wasted my money. 

Even if the lenses feel good to wear I'm not gonna take any additional risks for comfort testing so yeah, my comfort grades are purely based on my first –and only– experience of wearing the lenses. I strongly recommend you never wear expired lenses, especially to events like anime conventions where you'd wear colored contact lenses for prolonged times. Don't be a cheapskate when it comes to your sight, it's irreplaceable and worth much more than saving 20 bucks!

But what little I can say regarding the comfort of this particular pair is that they were thin and overall comfortable to wear, I barely felt like I had lenses on. I do want to note though that I found the Twinkle series extremely hard to tell apart which side of the lens is the right and wrong side, so to say. The difference in the curve is so minimal that unless you're a very seasoned circle lens wearer it's hard to tell the difference! I've worn countless circle lenses *khrrm* and I still had to do a double-take!

I guess that's all I had to say. I can't really recommend to buy these anymore because they don't appear to exist in the market today, otherwise I would as this is a lovely lens. It's not pink though, I think y'all agree with me on that right? :'D I am legit sad that the Twinkle series has been seemingly discontinued indefinitely – I remember being so curious about them when they first came out and I remember how there existed no reviews of them back then. Well now it does but yeah, too late. :( Oh well, here's one for the history books I guess, to remember what lenses we once had haha...

If I think of them as a red lens then the color is pretty great, nice rich shade and slightly toned-down impact. As a pink lens it's simply a fraud lol.

Contrary to expectations (the design is half transparent, pretty much) the color coverage is really good!
Enlargement: 6/10
Somewhat big but due to the subdued brown rim and dotted coloration it's not very intense on the dolly department.
Comfort: 8/10
Appears to be really comfortable, thin and I don't feel them much at all. Estimated 4-5 hours on naturally very dry eyes with a knack for being sensitive too.
Naturalness: 4/10
On regards of being red they already bomb, but they're pretty toned down for being an unnatural color so it's not all bad?

Lens review: I.Fairy Poppy Red

 Hello people!

It's been a bit quiet here on the blog, I've been quite busy with my work practice and haven't had anything to really write about. But now I've got a circle lens review to share so that's at least something, right? I will tell you all about this very pretty red lens called I.Fairy Poppy Red, let's go!

Base curve: 8.6 mm
Diameter: 16.2 mm

Water content: 55%

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

 

I really like that the lenses use poppy in the name – red poppies are famous as a symbol of remembrance for WW1 and how they grew on ravaged battlefields, most notably in Flanders Fields. Probably one of the reasons why I originally bought these to use for either costesting or photoshooting Prussia from Hetalia hehe, but then I think what happened was that Firith had lost pieces of the costume so I couldn't borrow it and then the plans fell through. :'D I borrowed that costume at Närcon many years ago but don't really have photos of it.

Anygays, this is a pretty big lens and it's a very vibrant and gorgeous red shade. It screams cosplay to me, it's no doubt a very good cosplay lens – perfect size, very visible color, versatile design! I absolutely adore the shade of red, it's so fresh and has such a lovely brightness to it. The design is rather simple with a classic burst-like print with darker red streaks mixed in with the lighter base color for depth.

One lens in.

As you can see the red color is super visible but still doesn't look like a crazy lens or over-the-top. The coverage is great and despite how different it is from my natural eye color (grayish blue) it doesn't clash and actually transitions surprisingly well! It's not the smoothest fade ever but it works! 

The design is semi-realistic if we look at how it vaguely resembles a real iris, except just a lot bigger. I.Fairy lenses are known for being big though so that's nothing new under the sun!

I forgot about the expiry date on these (time goes by so fast!) so I did not get to wear them for any cosplay photoshoot whatsoever, only this review. Boo. :[ Oh well, a review is better than nothing and I like to think that I'm helping some other geek or fashionista out there somewhere, someday. 

But what this means is that I can't really grade comfort properly and I'm thus basing my grade on my first (and only) impression of wearing these lenses, aka the time it took for me to get these photos taken. Please do not wear expired lenses for anime conventions or any prolonged time, preferably not at all to be safe. What little I can tell about these lenses was that they seemed very comfortable; I barely felt that I was wearing lenses except for that when I moved my eyes around I could feel like the corners of the lens on my iris, if that makes sense? It's a pretty common sensation so it's nothing that I personally find uncomfortable, it's almost the norm on a lot of circle lenses and in particular on those with bigger diameters. 

The lenses were otherwise thin and comfortable and didn't hinder my vision in any way, no red corners or such. I'm assuming that if these had been fresh I could most likely have gotten 3-5 hours of wear out of them on my dry af eyes, that's without using eyedrops. Might not sound like much as people with more "normal eyes" can wear circle lenses sometimes up to 8 hours in one go but yeah, I can't do those numbers. And with expired lenses I'm not gonna go and gauge wearable time, I'm just doing a very rough estimate.

I think that's about all I had to say about these colored peepers. It's an amazing cosplay lens in all fields, I can't recommend these enough if you need red contact lenses for a costume! The red color is fantastic in terms of both vibrancy and coverage and, while the size enlargement is clearly noticeable, it shouldn't be overpowering unless you have notably small eyes. I.Fairy is also a trustable and safe brand that has been around for many years, I'd say it's one of the staple brands in the market and very distinguishable. What more can I say? If you are on the lookout for awesome red lenses for your next costuming venture then don't sleep on the Poppy Reds!

Simple and classic burst-like print, mimicing a real iris to some degree. Gorgeous and high versatility!

Very solid coverage without looking tacky. High pigmentation and tasteful color transition at pupil opening.

Enlargement: 7/10

Very clearly big but due to the lack of a pronounced black rim it's not as obviously dolly.

Comfort: 7/10

Appears comfy and thin, barely feel them. Rough estimate is 3-5 hours on super dry eyes.

Naturalness: 3/10

They're red and big so that's already a no, but it's definitely not an obnoxious fake-looking red lens either.
