Lens review: TheDollyEye Starry Eye Gray

What's up?

I'll continue with the circle lenses as mentioned earlier – I have a lot of pairs waiting for their turn this summer so I'm totally gonna be chugging out a ton of reviews! 

Today's review will be about the Starry Eye Gray lenses made by TheDollyEye (aka DollyEye). I normally don't really care for gray lenses that much, as I think it's a pretty boring color, but I must admit that these lenses are something else!

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

The Starry Eye series are really amazing in terms of design; it's one of those lenses that are really versatile and stunning. The print might not look all that extraordinary on first glance but it does transform your eyes into these glimmering, popping gemstones!

The lenses have this cool-toned gray color that really speaks to me. The lack of a prominent limbal ring makes these look surprisingly natural, despite the vibrant color. It's a pretty rare combination to find a lens that is both colorful, opaque and natural at the same time. x)

As you can see I have naturally light blue-gray eyes and these blend like a dream for me! The transition is so soft and fluid that you barely notice where the lens meets my real eye color, it's amazing. I also adore the pretty 'halo effect' at the edges, really gives my peepers that alluring, mystical look. 

The enlargement is pretty nice and the opacity does its job in perfect harmony. The lenses make such a fresh sparkly and lively look to my eyes – it's a really captivating and magical effect! I seriously love how these look, definitely one of my top favorite gray lenses that I've had so far. Never thought I'd be so captivated by a gray lens, lmao.

Comfort is pretty nice. Bear in mind that I have problematic eyes that are really dry and sensitive, but even I can wear these for about 3-5 hours, which is really good in my standards as my eyes usually reject lenses after the first couple hours because of dryness. These are super easy to insert and really thin and comfortable – I barely feel them in my eyes, except for when they blur my vision for a few seconds every now and again.

I could keep praising these for all eternity but I just seriously dig how they look! It's such a soft look and I can't get enough of how they make my eyes look like bright crystals with that kind of fantasy flair that brings your thoughts to the purest beings. It's a super cute and attractive lens and I would recommend it for cosplay and j-fashion alike! The Starry Eye lenses actually almost look better in real life because of the nuances and reflections it does in all the different lights (I feel like my photos don't do them justice at all), it's simply fascinating how colored contacts can do such a big difference. Seriously get these if you want eyes like an angel.

Thanks to the absence of a prominent black rim and the flawless blending these do pass off as semi-natural.

Lens review: TheDollyEye Pop C Light Brown

Yooooo!

Here we go again, lens review time! Today it's Pop C Light Brown on the plate from TheDollyEye (often spelled just DollyEye) and without further ado, let's go!

Diameter: 15.0 mm

Water content: 55%

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

I bought these a very long time ago because they were on sale. These wouldn't normally have been my first choice but who can resist super cheap lenses? x) 

I feel like the design is pretty basic, it looks similar to the GEO Angel series and other classical circle lens design that you stumble upon everywhere. What these do have to their defense though is a hyper black limbal ring which really nets you those big dolly eyes. They're really cute-looking when worn and provide a youthful, innocent look.

My natural eye color is a light blue-gray and I must admit that I believe these lenses would look much better on dark eyes – I feel like the brown color, because of its transparency and light pigmentation, kinda gets "lost" on my eyes. It's not an ugly color but it's disappointing (especially when compared with how nice the blue pair looked on me) and because of how muddled it looks it's actually quite hard to distinguish what the color is supposed to be, especially when seen from a distance.

Comfort is.. okay-ish I think? Bear in mind I have really sensitive and dry eyes but yeah, these feel nice and fresh upon insertion but I experienced some dry bouts on and off, along with some short-lived stinginess a couple times. Two hours in I noticed that my vision was getting a bit blurred from the lenses but it didn't hinder me from doing daily tasks. I would estimate the wearing time for anything between 2-4 hours, which is pretty okay in my current standards as my eyes have been dry douchebags for a while now.

I guess these lenses would be fine if you're looking for this kind of really, err, diluted some-sort-of-brownish color? But don't get them if you're light eyed and want beautiful, clearly brown eyes as that's probably not what you'll get. Although I must admit they actually look pretty nice in sunlight, hmm...

Short summary:

Color: 3/10
Looks muddled and sort of indistinguishable as brown. Probably nicer on dark eyes...
Design: 6/10
A pretty ordinary design but at least it's versatile.
Opacity: 4/10
Not so good opacity but could be worse; my real eye color affects the final outcome a lot.

Enlargement: 6/10
Big enough to look weird without eye makeup.
Comfort: 4/10 
Mixed bag. Really comfy for the first hour but then they would feel dry on and off, also blurs my vision past two hours for some reason. A bit stingy on occasion but still wearable overall.
Naturalness: 3/10
The bold black rim kills it but the color isn't too weird.

Lens review: TheDollyEye Lathae BD20 Brown

Good evening!

It's-a me, Mario! No, not really. But I'm here again with a lens review just like I warned you guys about. ;) There's still a lot more to come for this summer but today it's the TheDollyEye Lathae BD20 Brown that I will introduce to you!

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

This is a lens that I really like in terms of design – it has a print that stands out from the crowd and still it looks familiar when worn. What I mean with familiar is that despite the print itself, that looks quite unusual, the overall impression still looks like those dolly lenses with a big black rim. ^^ 

I'm probably alone thinking this thought but ever since I first saw the Lathae lenses I thought it looked like there were fishes swimming around the print of the lens! It's probably just my eyes and my love for marine animals talking, haha.

One lens in.

When I look at the lenses I feel like there's perhaps a bit of an orange tone to them? Or it's my eyes being fucked because we recently had color analysis in school, lmao. The brown seems a medium shade and actually looks pretty nice on my light eyes; it's not the most amazing brown color I've ever come across but it's still a good one. The lenses also cover my real eye color, except for the pupil hole of course.

It's a cute lens and will work for many looks. The thick limbal ring also adds the illusion of bigger and bolder eyes! I like these lenses but I feel like the blue ones looked much nicer on me personally, haha.

And then we get to the point where most lenses either soar high or crash and burn – comfort. For most colored contact lens wearers comfort is really important and can thus make or break a deal, for me it's no different. The shitty thing is that I have really sensitive/dry eyes and yeah, it feels like for every year that goes by it gets increasingly harder to find lenses that are comfortable – I haven't had a super comfy pair in a long time and, sadly, the Lathae Brown is no exception. :'(

I do suspect I might just have gotten unlucky with a Monday example because within 20 minutes these start to dry and feel stingy on my eyes. >o< After one hour I'm screaming to take them off because I can't stand it anymore. I even used eyedrops before putting the lenses on and still they felt uncomfortable; I could always feel them in my eyes and they felt stingy on and off. Sometimes they'd turn magically invisible and perfect for a while and that's such a contrast, lol. Most of the time I had the feeling of the obvious "there's something in my eye" and if you combine that with occasional scratchiness then it's just no. It's one hell of a roller-coaster because yeah, on another day they didn't feel that bad at all. I can't even. :S

Cute swirly print that almost seems to have small fishes swimming in them, at least according to my imagination.

Generous size boost.
Comfort: 3/10
These lenses give me trusting issues lol, sometimes they are fine and other times they're so dry and stingy after 1 hour that I'm clawing after them to get them off. Really unpredictable.
Naturalness: 2/10
The print is too fancy and the black limbal ring doesn't help either.

Lens review: TheDollyEye Pop C Dark Green

Hello everyone!

I'll continue with the lens reviews for now, yolo. x) Today it's the Pop C Dark Green lenses by TheDollyEye that I'll show you all! TheDollyEye is often spelled as just DollyEye but yeah, it's the same brand I'm reviewing. Even though I'm pretty sure they're just a rebranding label but oh well, I don't dare guess what brand might be the actual maker of these lenses as that's a jungle in itself to figure out sometimes, lmao.

Diameter: 15.0 mm

Water content: 55%

Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

In the vials the lenses look pretty colorful but in truth I think black is actually the primary color here. I mean sure they still look green and all but you think "ooh so dark" before "wow that's green", if that makes sense. xD The green that there is I can say is vivid and has a beautiful shade!

The design is pretty straightforward – a super thick black rim with a kind of 'burst' effect towards the center; it's really pretty and not overdone. I like how it frames my eyes and makes the gaze look intense and mystical, it's a pretty cool effect!

One lens in.

You can see that I have light blue-gray eyes and these do blend nicely, despite the intense color. It's a nice surprise as green lenses of this shade tend to look unnatural at the pupil hole, aka where my real eye color meets the lens. There is also a moderate enlargement effect, nothing that will make you gawk but it's definitely noticeable and the blackness adds the illusion of bigger eyes as well.

I think the color coverage is good. I can't really complain about it as there's no question that these makes my eyes look green. A dark green with a massive amount of black but yeah, even that is far from my natural eye color lol.

Comfort was a bit of a ride for me. They felt a bit thick and scratchy on insertion but after a few tries it felt okay. Might just have been dirt but whatever the case I must say that I still almost constantly felt like I was wearing lenses and that's not a feeling I really like, especially when it's super noticeable when I move my gaze. It's not painful or anything but just... bothersome, ya know? Then again, I have immensely sensitive and dry eyes and am quick to react to even small discomforts so yeah, someone else might find these perfectly fine – everyone's eyes are different.

I only managed to wear these for about 1-2 hours as they would start to feel increasingly stingy, to the point it bothered me enough so I had to take them out. It's surprisingly not the dryness that hits first but the discomfort. *shrugs*

Overall I'd still say that if you like this kind of design then these are worth trying. Comfort is always highly individual and so take my grade with a grain of salt. ^^" I think this is more a fashion lens than a costume lens and that's because these just simply look black when viewed from a bigger distance – it's mainly up close that the green really stands out.

Lens review: TheDollyEye Pop C Light Blue

I'm not gonna lie, the upcoming summer months will be very lens review heavy on my blog – I hope you guys won't mind too much. x) It's just that I have a lot of pairs that I had almost forgotten and that expire on the later half of this year and I really need to review them before it's too late!

Today's lens review will be of the Pop C Light Blue lenses by TheDollyEye (sometimes just spelled DollyEye). As far as I know TheDollyEye is just a rebranding label and so I'm actually really unsure of who is the real maker of these lenses, my guess is on EOS but I don't dare say anything in case it's wrong, lol.

Let's get to the review, shall we?

Oh sweet Jesus, I bought these ages ago! I can't even remember why I picked them in the first place, although I think they might have been on sale or something, lmao. Oh well, I don't regret anything as these lenses do have a pretty design, even though it's a quite common pattern. :D Speaking of which, the design actually reminds me of the GEO Angel series and other similar lens styles – it's characterized by a really thick black limbal ring and a simple design with a one-tone color.

The blue color in itself looks surprisingly opaque when worn and is more of a medium blue than a true light blue, at least in my opinion. When I think light blue lenses I am almost expecting these kind of ethereal ice eyes, haha. But in any case the color of these lenses is nothing to scoff at – it's definitely pretty and it does a good job in making my eyes look vivid and alluring.

One lens in.

The huge black rim gives the illusion of bigger eyes, which in turn makes for a younger, more innocent look. I actually like the effect, it's cute. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's a pretty classic circle lens look nonetheless. 

I think the color goes pretty well with my naturally light blue-gray eyes, although the black streaks and dots in the center kill any natural blending effect these might have had on light eyes, lol. It doesn't look bad by any means but the lenses just basically don't fade seamlessly into your real eye color at the center. No big deal.

The comfort is okay-ish but nothing to write home about, at least not for me. They do feel moist and refreshing upon insertion but slowly turned into a case of itchy and scratchy show, at least one of the lenses did. All along I felt them in my eyes, especially when I moved my gaze I would feel the lens clearly – it wasn't directly uncomfortable, just annoying. That "thick" feeling never really went away either. I still somehow managed to wear them for 2 hours before the signs of dryness kicked in, which is pretty average in my standards as my eyes are really dry and sensitive. I would guess wearing time could be anything between 1-3 hours, more or less. Of course if you don't suffer from Sahara-eyes then you can probably add several extra hours of wear, lol.

Short summary:

Color: 7/10
The blue looks blue and looks good too. Nothing to complain about.
Design: 6/10
Kind of a classic design I'd say but hey, it works!
Opacity: 7/10
These do make my eyes look blue with all certainty. I was expecting more transparency, glad to be proved wrong.

Enlargement: 6/10
Gives the illusion of bigger eyes but it's not like AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH.
Comfort: 3/10 
Wearable but quite stingy. I feel them in my eyes and they start to dry in about 2 hours on my super sensitive eyes.
Naturalness: 2/10
Not with that massive limbal ring.
