Kureno Sohma preview! + Tracon

Yesterday I picked up my wig for Kureno from town and today I did a super quick preview! (aka no cosplay make-up except coloring eyebrows)
Excuse me for the huge mess in the background and yeah, mirror photo.

Yes, that's a plush bird and I'll totally carry it around!
I think it makes it easier to recognize the character ~

I actually thought I would look kind of silly because this shirt is too big for me but seriously, it's pretty much the perfect color and I found it at a second-hand store for like 1 € or something so.. I don't care! xD But with the cosplay on I figured it didn't look all that bad so okaydokay ~

Oh, and speaking of the shirt! There's barely any color pictures of Kureno -as far as I know- but as you know by now I went with the color on one of the manga's front covers showcasing him. But because in the manga he pretty much always has his shirt tucked into his pants I decided to wear it this way too.

I also plan to use my red contact lenses for Kureno (I just couldn't be bothered to wear them for the preview test..) because he has red-brown eyes and well, because my eyes aren't brown and I don't have brown contact lenses then I have to roll with red ~

Oh, hey hey also!

Tracon is closing in and I have bought myself a con ticket but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm still not 100% sure who I will cosplay on Sunday -so I won't make a cosplay plans post just yet- but I can say that Kureno will be my Saturday cosplay because there is going to be a Fruits Basket cosplay group that day!

Black pants and belt bought

I went to Prisma today and bought a brown belt and black pants for SSL!Hijikata as well as Kureno Sohma and whatever future cosplays I might do that these could be useful to.

Now I just need to find a white shirt and a purple tie for Sweet School Life version of Hijikata and he will be done. For Kureno I now only need the wig, which I ordered yesterday by the way, so expect me to cosplay him this year.. err, screw that, expect me to cosplay both!

I'm going to continue searching second-hand stores for a white shirt for Hijikata and whenever Kureno's wig pops up in the mailbox I'll make a cosplay preview for him, stay tuned!

Second-hand stores, I love you so

Yesterday I went to a second-hand store in town that I visit every now and then mostly with cosplay in mind hurr and I found a black suit jacket there that actually fit me! That doesn't happen very often. So of course -considering it only cost 4,40 €- it came back home with me. I'm pretty damn sure sooner or later I will stumble into some cosplays that will need one anyway so why not grab it now when it was there in front of my face?

But uhm, originally I went to the second-hand store with Hakuouki's "Sweet School Life" version of Hijikata in mind because obviously, if luck would have it, it would be one hell of a lot cheaper to just thrift all the clothes needed for it. I want to cosplay this version because it's stylish (Hijikata always is xD) and would be a nice change whenever I just can't be bothered to put on kimono or anything else that takes a fair amount of time.

So when I got home yesterday from the second-hand shopping I checked my references and noticed that OH GOD THE OTHER JACKET I WAS LOOKING AT WOULD BE PRETTY MUCH PERFECT FOR HIJIKATA AGHFGDHSAFH!!!11 *brain explode* Yeah. So today when I woke up which was, well, late I super-speeded back to the same second-hand store in hopes that the jacket would still be there and aaw yeeah it was! You know, I did try it on yesterday and it actually fit me too (clothing gods must like me this week.. lol) and the only reason I didn't buy it back then was that I was like "but I won't need two different ones yet" and I'm a liiiiittle bit too mursu for that jacket because lowest button is slightly hard to close, but it's not a problem cuz Hijikata wears his jacket open anyway...

Oh, and did I mention this only cost 4,40 € too?

While I was walking around the second-hand store I also noticed these shoes and after a quick fitting test they got approved by me! I was surprised they would be just the right size actually and didn't seem uncomfortable either the short time I had them on.

I love 2 € shoes xD

These should be okay to wear for SSL Hijikata as well as Kureno Sohma and likely many others with rather basic shoes.

I feel pretty good about these finds, most times I'm not so lucky when I go second-hand shopping but sometimes miracles happen I guess. :DD

Successful trip to Tositori..

I finished school early today and decided to take the bus home instead of waiting for mom to pick me up after job. I walked over to to this one shopping center, which I always pass by, and when I got there I noticed I had about one hour of time to kill before the bus would arrive. So I decided to go to Tositori, this one second-hand shop in town, just to see if there was anything I could use for some more casual clothes cosplays. I especially had in mind to see if I could find a light green shirt for Kureno Sohma from Fruits Basket.

Yes, Fruits Basket, don't ask me why I read a shoujo manga. xD Normally most shoujo manga don't catch my interest at all there are a few exceptions though.. but I've had some slight interest in Fruits Basket for some time because I thought the zodiac concept sounded cool. Oh well, when Angie (one of my Swedish con friends) told me I should cosplay as Kazuma and showed me a picture of him I went "looks cool" (mainly because he wore kimono. I love kimono trololo) and decided to start reading the manga some days after that, mainly just to find out about this character. Honestly, at the first 4 volumes I considered dropping it because I found all characters except Kyo, Tohru and Hatori (and occasionally Yuki and Shigure) extremely annoying. *coughwantedtopunchhiroandkagurainthefacesomanytimescough* But something still kept me reading it.. and when I then finished Furuba I must say I'm glad that I didn't drop it because the story sure got more interesting at the later volumes and the characters developed and stopped getting on my nerves as much, haha. Kazuma, Kureno, Hatori and Kyo were my favorites - in that order.

Oh well, back to the second-hand store trip.
I must say I got the jackpot! Found just what I was looking for; a perfect green shirt that fit me okay and best of all.. the price was..

Super cheap. I love second-hand stores sometimes. xD This also means that now it's very likely I'll do Kureno Sohma for a con next year.. I just need black pants and a wig. I already have a bird plushie I could use as a prop bought years ago (I loved birds when young); I think carrying it around would maybe make it easier for people to recognize who I'm cosplaying because most characters in Fruits Basket have very.. generic clothing. I like Kureno and I'm also born on the year of the Rooster so double yay, this will be a comfy chill cosplay to do. Would be nice to have a Fruits Basket cosplay group next year though.. but I don't really know many people who would be interested to cosplay from it.

Oh, and I must tell you one thing that happened after I had bought the shirt and went to wait for the bus in the bus station. It's not cosplay related but it was rather awesome so I had to make a rage comic out of it. xD
