Desucon ticket arrived!

I forgot to make a post yesterday but I will do so today instead..
Why?
Because I got my Desucon arm band ticket in the mail!

The ticket fastens by pulling up that black lock thingy.. when you pull it upwards it will lock itself so that you can't pull it back.. aka if you put it on and tighten it you won't get it off without cutting it up. :DD
Okay, so last year I was on my first Desucon ever and back then the arm band tickets were made of paper.. this year it's fabric and well, fabric ones seem to be quite rare in Finland. Most cons in Finland I've been to have had paper arm bands (except Animecon 2012) as opposed to all Swedish cons which sported fabric ones. Then again Finnish cons send your arm band tickets in the mail while in Sweden you print out a paper receipt which you take to the con and exchange for an arm band ticket at the con place.. after standing in line for a few hours normally. Finnish cons are good because by sending the tickets home with the mail you avoid horribly slow con queues!

I must say that when I got the Desucon arm band I was like "man, this thing has been over-nourished!" because the letters on it are much bigger than what I'm used to and the whole thing is wider than the Swedish counterparts as well as the Animecon 2012 one, aka 2 cm instead of 1,5 cm. Oh well, not like I mind. x) Fabric tickets ftw! I highly prefer fabric arm band tickets over paper ones and that's because paper ones are more sensitive to damage and they wrinkle and get in bad condition much easier. I like to save and collect all my con tickets as memories so it's better if they stay in good condition longer hehe ~

Desucon - When I thought I saw the goal line...

... I have to take a big step backwards.
Yeah, there is bad news.

I got a message at Aniki some hours ago from the carpool contact person.. seems their plans changed so I'm back to the point without a ride; without a way of getting to Desucon. Damn, that joy was short-lived..

Oh well, I'm determined to go to Desucon so I'm again looking for a carpool possibility at Aniki forums as well as here on my blog. If anyone traveling to Desucon from Kemi/Tornio/Oulu/somewhere-close-to-these sees this and wants to help a fellow congoer out please do get in touch with me! My email is to be found at the left side of the blog but you can also comment on this post.

Until then I'll sit here biting my nails and hope for the best...

Desucon 2013 - Problems solved and cosplay plans!

I have now solved the how-to-travel-to-Desucon-and-back problem; I will seemingly travel with a group of con goers from Oulu and hey, in a motherfucking camping car to boot! <3 So much awesome! 8D I'm very happy about this!!

Oh, and I kind of half-promised earlier that when I solve the travel problem I will reveal my Desucon cosplay plans. Here goes!

Friday

Series: Fruits Basket
Character: Kazuma Sohma (manga version!)

I'm not much for shoujo manga but Fruits Basket is one of the few exceptions. It was a friend who got me to read it and while I found the first few volumes.. well.. boring.. until Kazuma appeared the story started for real. I've wanted to cosplay Kazuma for a while now (I can't find anyone who has cosplayed him by the way :S) and when Ri-kun said they could do Kyo -if I did Shishou- I was excited because hey, Kazuma is awesome and all but he just looks like a generic kimono dude and probably wouldn't be recognized without Kyo. :'( But it seems I will have a Kyo so AAAAAWWW YEEEAAAAA, this will be so much fun!

Saturday

Series: Rurouni Kenshin
Character: Kenshin Himura (Hitokiri Battousai)

Kenshin, you don't need more reasons to cosplay him than that he is AWESOME. I will cosplay the Tsuiokuhen/Trust & Betrayal OVA version, aka when he was still a hitokiri. Yeah, it's the same one I debuted at Närcon Vinter last month. Kenshin was super comfortable to wear and fun so I can see myself cosplaying him a lot more in the future and the future means that the next stop is Desucon!

Sunday

Series: Brave 10
Character: Rokuro Unno

I've been going back and forth on who to cosplay on Sunday the most but when I figured I could use Hakuouki Shinsengumi Kitan Saitou's wig... their hairstyles are super similar - hairtwins! I'd also get more use for my violet contacts if I did Rokuro so well, it got pretty set. Okay, while I admit I think his default outfit is more awesome I really don't have the confidence or body.. hahaha.. ha to pull that one off so I have to settle with the second (third?) best.. aka kimono!Rokuro seen during the later half of the anime. Chill cosplay except that I'll be half blind so why not? Also, eyewraps are boss and Rokuro is one of my top favorites in Brave 10 anyway. Sure the anime wasn't all that great but hey, I really enjoyed most of the characters!

 Yeah.
These plans are not 100% set yet, there's always the possibility I might change something but I feel pretty sure about these.

Desucon - So close.. but so far away!

Earlier today I bought myself a ticket to Desucon in Finland, Lahti, which will be held 14-16 June. I really want to go there but it's very uncertain if I can yet.. but I decided after I heard that 40-50% of the tickets had already sold on the release day (which was yesterday, 10th March) that it's better to play it safe and buy a ticket so I have one in case it turns out I can go! After all it is much easier to sell a ticket if you can't go than try to find one after they're sold out..

So now I have a ticket just in case. Another problem with Desucon is that during the same weekend there's two more events in Lahti; seemingly some national rowing event and a poetry event. I'm not sure, Jäärä told me this and also told me she and some friends had already found and booked a sleeping place for the weekend. Obviously having these three events during the same time in the same city makes it hell to find hotels that aren't completely booked full already!! Luckily me and Ri-kun, after some searching, found a hotel not too far away which wasn't super expensive and had a few rooms left, so we jumped on the chance to book it before it was gone! One good thing was that it had a free-of-charge cancellation option too.

Okay, so now it seems I have most of the stuff fixed for a set trip to Desucon.. except one thing, which is the biggest problem of all - namely getting there. I really can't afford paying almost 200 € for the train tickets alone (and bus and airplane are just as expensive or even more so) and it sucks that there's no way for me to get that "student card" thingy which gives you great savings on a lot of things; I just can't get it because I study in Sweden and don't get study grant from Kela... which is a requirement for getting the card it seems. So, train/bus/plane is really not an option for me, unless very very very last resort, because Lahti is so far away from where I live and the travel costs are outrageous for someone with no current income except study grant. With that said I'm urgently searching for other cheaper options right now; a con carpool would be a life safer. I'm looking around to see if there's anyone who will pass by or start driving from northern Finland -around the Kemi/Tornio/Oulu area- who will be driving down to Desucon and has available place in the car for one person more! Of course I would pay part of the gasoline costs. :) If anyone planning a Desucon carpool from the north reads this and got interested please take contact with me through email (my email can be found to the left on the blog!) or comment on this post or, for you Finnish peeps who would rather read this carpool message in Finnish instead, you can check the thread I made at Aniki forums and contact me there by private message.

I really hope there's some kind soul somewhere out there who can help a fellow cosplayer and congoer out! :) Thank you in advance and here's a cat for you:

Oh, and Desucon cosplay plans will be revealed later, especially if I can solve this how-to-get-there-without-having-to-pay-an-arm-and-leg problem.

Until then, sayonara!~

Desucon 2012 summary

Pfhaah, I'm finally back home from my first summer!Desucon ever. Desucon was held in Lahti 8-10 June 2012. I had a blast, it was so much fun despite more-than-usual breathing problems, ME GUSTA VERY MUCH!! I'm so going there next year again!

My journey to Desucon started on Thursday morning by train. I managed to finish my cosplays in time for the con, although last minute and mom and stepdad modified Ichito's shoes for me because I was busy packing my stuff. :'D It looks a bit ghetto but it works lol.

Yay shoes.. and thus my cosplays were ready ~
I slept in Omenahotels with Jäärä, Ri-kun and Sukka from Thursday to Sunday. So much night derp and fun oh my god. xD PILLS!

I cosplayed shikai!Jushiro Ukitake on Friday and hung out with our Bleach cosplay group. We went to eat in a Chinese restaurang together a bit after the con started. I must say I wasn't too fond of the food. I do like Chinese food in general but I've eaten better.. but maybe that's because me and two others sat in another table from the rest and most of the different foods were on the other table and I didn't bother to go there because I was feeling very weak...

On Saturday morning and earlier daytime I cosplayed Ichito from Asaki, Yumemishi but I changed into yukata!Souji Okita from Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan later because, even though I really liked my Ichito cosplay it was quite uncomfortable and I'd rather not have a headache during the whole main con day. Jäärä cosplayed Miku from the same game and changed into Chizuru also.

On Sunday we had a Hakuouki group with Jäärä as Chizuru, Zkitsune as Harada, Ri-kun as Saitou and me as Okita. I think Sunday was my favorite day in terms of hanging-with-friends-fun. Even though shikai!Ukitake was, again, my most popular cosplay during the con.

I didn't attend any panels or even buy any merchandise I have so much stuff in my room already.. but the con was very very nice anyway. Lots of nice cosplay costumes and friendly people. I took quite some photos so if you remember being photographed by shikai!Ukitake, yukata!Okita or Ichito (aka white long-haired eyepatch guy) give me a shout and I'll see if I have a photo of you! If you don't know what those characters I cosplayed look like you can have a look at my earlier Desucon cosplay plans blog post. I have photos of Okami cosplayers, Hakuouki cosplayers, Bleach cosplayers, Sengoku Basara cosplayers, InuYasha cosplayers, Digimon cosplayers and some few more like some hobbits from Lord of the Rings (names escape me gah!), Mitsurugi from Soul Calibur and Gakupo from Vocaloid. So if you cosplayed something from these series there's a big possibility I have a photo of you~ I have some photos too of characters I didn't recognize but I thought the costumes were really nice/interesting.

Oh, and of course if anyone has photos of my cosplays I'd really like to have them! My email can be found under the "contact me" text to the left. Thank you ~

Hmm, what more to say.. one thing's for sure.. Desucon was probably my most derp!lungs con ever.. dafuq. Weird it fucked so much now when it has been over one and a half year... *shrugs* Oh well. I think I ended up lololo-can't-almost-breathe 5 times.. 2 of them when going to sleep and the others when walking either to the con or back from the con damn ascents. Not cool... and ironically enough I think all bad breathing derps happened when I was cosplaying Okita or Ukitake.. OTL
lololo someone took a photo when I was recovering and I ended up getting a random chest pain just when the photo was taken.. so needless to say a random person probably got a very in-character Okita photo of me. ._. derp

I'm now suffering this after-con lag hahah (yyyh want more Desucon!) and I'm so friggin' tired right now, I hardly slept in the train back home and ahgjfsgfs. I got home a few hours ago and need to start packing again for another con, this time Uppcon in Uppsala next weekend. I'm leaving 13th June so need to pack my stuff again... but I need a bigger suitcase because I will be staying at my dad's place for some few weeks after the con.

And last but not least:
Thank you everyone for a wonderful Desucon experience! <3

I'm ready for Uppcon! + Desucon panic

Alrighty, so I just bought err, mom bought a train ticket to Uppcon (or well, actually to my dad's town because I'll be sleeping there) so now I have the sleeping place, con ticket and train ticket ready! Now only to finish the cosplays in time...
Oh, and you guys have no clue how stressed I am for Desucon!!

I only have 12 days to finish one and a half cosplay pretty much and during that same time I need to deal with my final school rush too lol. Wish me luck... I'll be needing it.

Bye!

Desucon 2012 tickets!

 Hi!

So, I've been immensely bored all day. I went and grabbed our other black sewing machine earlier today (we have 3 sewing machines: an overlocker, a black normal one and an über high-tech one. lol) and put it on the table. Mom needs to show me how to do buttonholes with it when she gets home so that I can continue on one of my cosplays, namely Ichito. I decided I will do craploads of buttonholes on the sleeves and then thread some blue ribbon through it. Our first plan was to do belt loops but it didn't work out because in that case the ribbon wouldn't have been seen on the inside.. like it's supposed to. So buttonholes it is.
Man, I've barely started and I need to finish this cosplay before Desucon in early June and then I need to make Okita's yukata too. Thank god that one is very easy though.. but knowing me I'll be stressing to get both cosplays done last minute anyway. *shrugs*

Oh well, I just went a swing to the kitchen and checked the post on the kitchen table.. there was a small letter... OMG DESUCON TICKETS! <3 Yep, totally heading for Desucon this year!!

See you!

Desucon 2012 cosplay plans!

Alrighty. Here comes my cosplay plans for Desucon in Lahti, Finland, 8-10 June 2012!

Friday

Character: Jushiro Ukitake
Series: Bleach

It seems our Finnish Bleach group decided Friday to be our group's "main day" so I'll bring my signature cosplay, Ukitake, then. He is my favorite character from Bleach! I will do the default captain version complete with shikai swords.

Saturday

Character: Ichito
Series: Asaki, Yumemishi

Oh sweet Jesus. This will be one of the most obscure cosplay choices I'll ever do... but I don't care because I drool buckets over his design, period. I don't care that he's a cursed psychopathic immortal missunderstood forever alone spirit... he is awesome.

Sunday

Character: Souji Okita
Series: Hakuouki

Ah, Okita. One of my favorite shinsengumis, if not my favorite. I decided to do this version for now because it's a chill "Sunday cosplay" and yeah, Ichito will be quite some work... and I'm a procrastinator.
