Lens review: G&G Blossom Blue

Hello and welcome to my blog!

It's been a while since I last did a circle lens review (weird innit? xD) but there's one on the plate today and it's the G&G Blossom Blue! For those unaware G&G, Barbie and Dueba are all different names for the same brand – it's quite common with circle lenses that lenses are rebranded and/or relabeled and thus you can sometimes find the same lenses sold under different names.

Let's get this review started~

Base curve: 8.8 mm
Diameter: 14.3 mm
Water content: 38%
Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

This is a pretty blue lens with a swirly flowerish print, it's rather cutesy in style and a safe choice for cosplayers when it comes to versatility – in fact I bought these as unspecified stand-ins for whenever I next needed blue lenses for any cosplay; these are generic enough (in a good way) to fit a wide range of characters. These pack a punch of color but I think this might be one of those lenses where the intensity of the color will depend on how light/dark your natural eye color is – I have very light gray-blue eyes and these are quite vibrant on me!

One lens in.

The color appears a single shade of blue with a black thick limbal ring, there's no gradient effects so in a way it looks flat and 'anime' which, again, makes it suitable for costuming and lolita fashion etc. :) The black outer rim is very noticeable and it adds greatly to the illusion of large, animated doll-like eyes. This is the kind of circle lens style I personally feel can look a bit weird without any kind of eye makeup to frame in the eyes, but of course it will depend on several factors like how large your eyes are and such.

I feel like these have a slightly smaller pupil opening than other similarly large circle lenses, which means that less of your natural eye color shows through in the middle. I personally appreciate this because sometimes the transition can look jarring, especially if there's a big difference between the colors or when there's no blending to make the shift smoother. Regardless, I don't notice any impaired vision or colored corners at the edges of my vision.

Lens photos coming below! All photos are taken by me during an October afternoon with a semi-clear sky. There's no color filters or such on the close-up photos and that's so that the colors would appear as true to real life as possible.

I have naturally sensitive and dry eyes but I've managed to wear these twice for a full con day (8 hours approximately) with little to no issues, which marks these as very comfortable in my book. They're thin and easy to insert and despite the lower water content I didn't feel that they dried out any faster than other lenses with higher water contents? Water content I feel isn't really a good indicator for comfort anyway so I tend to not judge based on that. But yeah, these are some of the comfier lenses I've worn lately and based on comfort and overall versatility I would repurchase these if needed.

All in all this is a great staple lens, it sits interestingly between 'classic' and 'unique'  because it feels like I've seen this design many times before but when I try to search for it I realize that no other design has those same petal spikes lol. It's a beautiful and colorful lens and can really make you look ethereal and lively! It's honestly a good lens to have lying around for when the need crops up. I also would like to mention that this is lowkey a chameleon lens because the vibrancy and shade of blue it appears to be changes a lot depending on the light conditions – as in sometimes it looks like a darker medium blue and other times it's this really captivating intense blue!

Distance photo time!

You can check my Nekocon 2025 summary and scroll to the America cosplay photos to see how the lenses look under the shade of greenery outdoors, which is notably darker than on the photo above.

Short summary:

Color: 8/10
A cute and soft, very flattering blue shade that shows up great on light eyes.
Design: 8/10
Beautiful yet simple flowery design, it draws your gaze in and looks lively and adorable!
Opacity: 7/10
I can't speak for how well these would show up on darker eyes but for me they're definitely opaque enough to be a good purchase. Nothing crazy but just right for a lot of uses.

Enlargement: 6/10
I'd say a bit on the large side but nothing insane. Great dolly size.
Comfort: 9/10
One of the comfier lenses I've had in a while. I don't feel them at all and I can wear them for a full day at events despite having dry-ass eyes naturally.
Naturalness: 2/10
Not much in the way of being natural; the black rim is way too pronounced and the color is too.. well, colorful to really pass lol.

Cheers and stay tuned for more lens reviews coming up!

Lens review: Chromaview Lunar Eclipse White

 Hello all awesome beings!

We're back to do another crazy lens review and this time it's a stark white special effects lens called Chromaview Lunar Eclipse White. This is a rather intense lens with a lot of potential appeal if you're into unnatural, unnerving and mysterious looks!

Let's get on with the review~

Base curve: 8.6 mm
Diameter: 14 mm
Water content: 53%
Life span: 30 days

These lenses were difficult to photograph in their blisters because they kinda just blend into that metallic background! But it's a pure white lens with a black burst-like irregularly spiked outer rim. If one looks really close you might notice that the spiky part actually has a soft blur to it; I thought it was my camera messing up the focus at first but it really is on the lens lol. Anyway I like it because it slightly smoothes out the overall effect and makes the lenses look a tad more ethereal instead of a tad more crazy, if that makes sense? xD

Chromaview is a contact lens brand mainly active in the western market and they carry a lof of different sfx lenses for all kinds of costuming and Halloween needs. I've been familiarizing myself with their products lately and honestly, I'm really digging them!

One lens in.

As you can see on the photo above I really meant it when I said these are a stark white! It's an unapologetically bright, no bullshit pure white that has no intentions of looking natural. Already by being white it looks really intense and, to some, perhaps a bit creepy. But I swear there's something with that tiny blurred edges effect that makes these less unsettling than those other 'zombie white' type of lenses.

Because this is a crazy lens they don't typically feature any notable enlargement effect, unlike circle lenses (first popularized in Asia, now a global hit). But if you look a bit closer you'll notice that the lens is, in fact, a tiny bit bigger than the size of my iris, albeit barely. It's honestly not noticeable on a quick glance and it wouldn't even look off if you decided to only wear one lens.

Lens photos below!

I did wear these lenses out for an anime event and I'd say that the comfort is decent. The lenses are thin and very easy to insert (you can easily tell apart right side from wrong) and I didn't feel that I had them on at first. But as is typical with opaque crazy lenses, due to their smaller pupil opening, you will have blurred corners at the edges of your field of vision in poorer light conditions and by that I mean mainly indoors or at night. It can make you feel uneasy if you're new to wearing colored lenses but don't worry, your eyes will readjust to the 'tunnel vision' and odds are that you'll stop noticing it in due time.
I wore these lenses for about 2 hours before I started to feel signs of uncomfortable dryness, but I want to point out that my eyes are naturally very prone to drying and on top of that this was during winter with almost -30 °C outside so yeah, it was cold as fuck and the air was dry too – which definitely contributed. Around the 4 hour mark the lenses were unbearably dry and I went to take them out. I want to note though that I'm certain that in better conditions these lenses would have been perfectly fine to wear longer; the event just happened to be on a particularly cold day coupled with my naturally sensitive eyes and yeah, that's gonna be ass no matter what lenses you put on. :'D

Summa summarum I'd say that I would recommend these lenses and especially if you fancy white lenses and/or have a thing for dressing up in costumes. These work just as well for bolder alternative fashion styles as they do for Halloween monster parties and cosplay. Depending on your tastes you can also wear these for fantasy beings like dark elves, sirens, warlocks, undead pirates and otherwordly rulers – the sky's the limit!

Distance photo!

Short summary:

Color: 10/10
A highly visible and striking pure white, super noticeable even from greater distances!
Design: 8/10
One of the staple crazy lens designs, albeit with a blurred burst effect at the edges. Intense and provoking.
Opacity: 10/10
Perfect coverage all the way, no cap. The white is super pigmented.
Enlargement: 3/10
There's a very slight size increase but it's not really noteworthy.
Comfort: 6/10
Thin and pleasant to wear (no scratchiness, itchiness etc). Might be a bit dryish in colder climates or on sensitive eyes, but still decent overall.
Naturalness: 0/10
This type of cosmetic lenses are meant to be extremely unnatural and outlandish, that's the appeal.

Have you worn sfx lenses for a fantasy look before?

Lens review: Neo Dali Extra Blue

Hello chums!

It's time for another circle lens review so let's roll this one out! I will be reviewing the Neo Dali Extra Blue, a lens by the Neo Cosmo brand (often just abbreviated to simply Neo).

Let's go~

Base curve: 8.6 mm
Diameter: 14.2 mm
Water content: 45%
Life span: 3 months

Some of my long-time readers might remember how my previous Neo reviews had the lenses in the typical glass vials but yeah, now they seem to come in blisters. I personally prefer the little glass bottles (they're easier to photograph for reviews etc) but whatever the case for the change Neo lenses are still just as good as they used to be, it's just the packaging that has changed.

One thing that's distinct to Neo is that pretty much all their lenses seem to be 14.2 mm diameter and 8.6 base curve, meaning that if you're picky about what lenses work for you and those measures that Neo use are ideal then you might want to stick to them; some people's eyes are very sensitive and can only use their exact base curve, while others have more leeway.

One lens in.

This is a really pretty lens with a deep blue color and a nice blending effect that goes really well with my gray-blue eyes. The shade of blue is somewhere between medium and dark but it has a lot of depth to it and doesn't look flat. I really like how soft the transition to the black rim is as well, it adds intensity and really frames your eyes without being jarring or cartoony.
There is a slight enlargement effect and although a 14.2 diameter is considered on the smaller end (when it comes to circle lenses) I dare say that due to the thickness of the limbal ring the enlargement effect appears bigger than on some of Neo's other lenses. It's all about the illusion really – a simple note to remember is that the thicker and more pronounced the black outer rim is, the more dolly and bigger the lens will appear when worn.

Lens photos below!
All photos are taken by yours truly during an afternoon with a clear sky. All close-ups are free from color-altering filters etc and that's so that the photos would appear as true to life as possible.

I've worn these lenses out to an anime convention and I had no issues with the comfort. Overall I'd say that the Dali Extra Blue are thin and easy to wear, they're comfortable even for longer wear and I barely even felt that I had lenses on. I should note though that my eyes are naturally sensitive and very dry and I do tend to experience dryness earlier than people with more "normal eyes" but I managed to wear these for roughly 5-6 hours before I felt like I really had to take them off. If you have dry eyes you might want to invest in eyedrops that are suitable for contact lenses to improve your comfort at events etc.

Overall this is a versatile circle lens that can be used for many different purposes ranging from cosplay to street fashion and dress-ups. The blue shade is very pleasant and has a good coverage, I think it would show up even on dark eyes? I can recommend this pair if you're looking for this type of blue color and don't want overly huge lenses; these lenses are a solid option for cosplaying male characters due to their modest size.

Distance photo!

Short summary:

Color: 8/10
A beautiful, darkish blue that has that a lot of depth to it.
Design: 7/10
Quite the standard design but a very succesful and multi-purpose one, it's minimalistic in a way yet full of life.
Opacity: 8/10
Surprisingly strong coverage, it blocks out my real eye color and is densely pigmented.
Enlargement: 4/10
It's between small and moderate when you factor in the illusion of the rich black rim.
Comfort: 7/10
Thin, comfy and I barely notice that I have lenses on. Definitely on the upper half of the scale.
Naturalness: 5/10
The color and bordering on ethereal appearance gives these away; a bit too dark and impactful to fly under the radar but still within the outskirts of semi-natural.

Lens review: Chromaview Blue Manson

Hello friends!

I'll be reviewing a pair of crazy lenses called Chromaview Blue Manson, wiee! I'd wager that most people who are familiar with sfx lenses have at the very least seen photos of this classic long-standing design – yes, the namesake comes from rockstar Marilyn Manson's iconic looks. There's tons of different brands that produce 'Manson' lenses but the ones I'm showing y'all today are from Chromaview, a brand more prominent in the western market.

Let's go!

Base curve: 8.6 mm
Diameter: 14 mm
Water content: 42%
Life span: 30 days

This is a really simple design consisting of a solid block of color and a thin black outer rim, nothing else. It's so minimal and yet it has an immense impact because of how unnatural and intense it ends up looking. Yes, the color payoff is crazy vibrant and whatever your real eye color is there will be no traces of it after you put these bad boys on!

One lens in.

As you can see on the photo above I have a light gray-blue eye color and it gets completely blocked out! It's only possible to catch slight glimpses of your natural color through the small pupil opening but it's not distracting at all from the overall effect and besides, one has got to see lol. Yes, the pupil hole is rather small (especially if you're used to wearing circle lenses) and that does mean that in some poorer light conditions you might experience some blurring in your field of vision, especially at the corners. If you're new to wearing special effect lenses then this might feel weird and trippy at first but don't worry, after some time your eyes will adjust!

There is some very minor enlargement effect for me but, honestly, it's not really noticeable once you have both lenses on. Of course the actual size increase will depend on the size of your eyes so yeah, there's some individual variety to factor in. But I doubt anyone would look alien with these on because they are considered small in the realm of colored contacts. Of course with this kind of bright Halloween-style lenses I recommend wearing eye makeup to really frame your eyes and make the lenses pop!

Lens photos below!
All photos are taken by yours truly during an afternoon with a clear sky. All close-ups are free from color filters and the like and that's so that the colors would appear as true to life as possible.

Unlit corridor, weak natural light in the distance.

Outdoors, facing sun.

You can see on the photos above that these lenses are unquestionably a screaming bright blue regardless of what light conditions I am in. There's no transparency whatsoever and yes, it looks extremely unrealistic but that's exactly the point with this type of lenses – if you want a hyper-pigmented, unapologetic neon blue that turns heads because of how bonkers colorful it is then look no further, you got it here. This is a great lens for costuming, carnival parties, punkrockers and literally anyone who breaks the mold of society and who doesn't give two shits about normalcy. If your vibe is being bold and extra then 'Manson' lenses are likely a good fit for you! This is of course also a solid choice for cosplay, depending on your preferences. :)

When it comes to comfort I'd say that the Blue Manson lenses get a pass, they're thin and generally comfortable to wear. I wore them at an event for about 7 hours before my eyes gassed, which is quite the feat for me because my eyes are very dry naturally. They did start to show signs of drying a couple or so hours in but almost all lenses do this for me because my eyes suck lol, so it isn't really anything out of the norm. I do want to mention though that I think I might have had one of the lenses being of a poorer batch because the right lens was always scratchy when I inserted it, and so I had to reinsert it a few times and clean it thoroughly between each try before it finally was wearable. The left lens was perfectly okay so I dunno, I inspected the right lens many times but I saw no defect on it so maybe just had bad luck with stubborn dirt or something.

Distance photo!

Short summary:

Color: 10/10
Absolutely insane neon bright blue, great for alternative fashion and costume parties.
Design: 7/10
Classic crazy lens design with a single bold color and thin black rim. Greatly visible from a distance!
Opacity: 10/10
100% coverage, no question.
Enlargement: 3/10
There's a minor size boost but I'd say it's not jarring even if you'd only wear one lens.
Comfort: 6/10
Sufficiently good. Might be a bit more drying than some other lenses due to the low-ish water content (42%) but overall thin and decent to wear. Bring contact lens suitable eyedrops for prolonged wear at events etc, especially if you have naturally dry eyes.
Naturalness: 0/10
Hell nah, these are as crazy as they come and proudly so!
