Lens review: TheDollyEye Pop C Light Blue

Hello sweeties!

I'm not gonna lie, the upcoming summer months will be very lens review heavy on my blog – I hope you guys won't mind too much. x) It's just that I have a lot of pairs that I had almost forgotten and that expire on the later half of this year and I really need to review them before it's too late!

Today's lens review will be of the Pop C Light Blue lenses by TheDollyEye (sometimes just spelled DollyEye). As far as I know TheDollyEye is just a rebranding label and so I'm actually really unsure of who is the real maker of these lenses, my guess is on EOS but I don't dare say anything in case it's wrong, lol.

Let's get to the review, shall we?

Base curve: 8.6 mm
Diameter: 15.0 mm
Water content: 55%
Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)

Oh sweet Jesus, I bought these ages ago! I can't even remember why I picked them in the first place, although I think they might have been on sale or something, lmao. Oh well, I don't regret anything as these lenses do have a pretty design, even though it's a quite common pattern. :D Speaking of which, the design actually reminds me of the GEO Angel series and other similar lens styles – it's characterized by a really thick black limbal ring and a simple design with a one-tone color.

The blue color in itself looks surprisingly opaque when worn and is more of a medium blue than a true light blue, at least in my opinion. When I think light blue lenses I am almost expecting these kind of ethereal ice eyes, haha. But in any case the color of these lenses is nothing to scoff at – it's definitely pretty and it does a good job in making my eyes look vivid and alluring.

One lens in.
The huge black rim gives the illusion of bigger eyes, which in turn makes for a younger, more innocent look. I actually like the effect, it's cute. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's a pretty classic circle lens look nonetheless.
I think the color goes pretty well with my naturally light blue-gray eyes, although the black streaks and dots in the center kill any natural blending effect these might have had on light eyes, lol. It doesn't look bad by any means but the lenses just basically don't fade seamlessly into your real eye color at the center. No big deal.

Lens photos below!
All photos taken by me during a May morning with a clear sky. Close-up photos are all free from color filters etc and that's so that the colors would be as true to real life as possible.

The comfort is okay-ish but nothing to write home about, at least not for me. They do feel moist and refreshing upon insertion but slowly turned into a case of itchy and scratchy show, at least one of the lenses did. All along I felt them in my eyes, especially when I moved my gaze I would feel the lens clearly – it wasn't directly uncomfortable, just annoying. That "thick" feeling never really went away either. I still somehow managed to wear them for 2 hours before the signs of dryness kicked in, which is pretty average in my standards as my eyes are really dry and sensitive. I would guess wearing time could be anything between 1-3 hours, more or less. Of course if you don't suffer from Sahara-eyes then you can probably add several extra hours of wear, lol.

Review: Brown
Short summary:

Color: 7/10
The blue looks blue and looks good too. Nothing to complain about.
Design: 6/10
Kind of a classic design I'd say but hey, it works!
Opacity: 7/10
These do make my eyes look blue with all certainty. I was expecting more transparency, glad to be proved wrong.
Enlargement: 6/10
Gives the illusion of bigger eyes but it's not like AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH.
Comfort: 3/10
Wearable but quite stingy. I feel them in my eyes and they start to dry in about 2 hours on my super sensitive eyes.
Naturalness: 2/10
Not with that massive limbal ring.

Thank you for reading, as always! Leave a comment if you have any questions ~

Kummacon 2018 – Free and awesome

Hello people!

It's time to write about my trip to Kummacon, the small free-entrance con in Oulu that was located in a new place called Oulu's international school – and by "new" I mean that I've never heard of any other Oulu-based convention being arranged there before (and there's multiple). Kummacon was held during 28-29 April but I only attended on 28th, aka the Saturday, as my whole visit to Oulu was just a day trip with my family. You see, my mom and stepdad wanted to go shopping and so me and Frozen Angel got a free ride to go check out Kummacon meanwhile! Win-win, in other words. :D

Okay so, Kummacon. I need to make it clear that this summary will only be about my experiences on Saturday and thus I have no idea what Sunday was like, although I can assume it was very similar to Saturday but just with different activities (the cosplay competition was on Sunday, weirdly enough).

Kummacon 2018 info leaflet.
The night before the con I was thinking if I should cosplay or not. My original idea was to just dress as a random Jedi (Star Wars, duh) because of the con's cosmos theme but yeah, the more I thought about it the more I felt like I didn't want to carry around a bag of changing clothes all day (read: heavy and bothersome) and spend hours of my limited con time on dressing up and then take off the costume before going home. I ended up going casual but packed with me a horse mask, just in case. Sadly I ended up not getting to wear the horse head as, by the time I was ready to derp around (finished exploring the con etc), mom suddenly called me and we had to leave. xD

Okay so, the con morning went without any issues. I woke up on time, the ride arrived on time and everything was smooth. Before the con we stopped at Kärkkäinen to go shopping (glad we did as I found a really nerdy Playstation logo t-shirt!) and have a snack.

I think me and Frozen Angel got to Kummacon somewhere after 12-ish, although I'm not sure at all as I didn't pay attention to the clock. ^^" To be honest, before going to the con we actually headed out to go battle a Tyranitar raid that was at a nearby Pokémon Go gym. xD There was a Latias raid right after at the next gym so yeah, we totally did that one as well as I heard from a friend that the locals were raiding it too. After the pocket monstering we finally headed for Kummacon (and we both were dumbfounded by how there constantly were 3-5 raids active nearby, that's insane when compared to our hometown, lmao).

Kummacon entrance.
My first impression was a bit sceptical but that little bit of doubt flew right through the window as soon as I stepped into the building: I was met by this kind of small-but-crammed con with a really welcoming atmosphere! Kummacon felt relaxed and despite having no entry fee it seemed to be arranged well – I was actually really surprised by the quality! I haven't been to a small (local) con that have felt this good for a long time and it just made it all the better as Kummacon is, in fact, the only con in Oulu that is free to attend. And I pray that it stays so, on behalf of my anorectic wallet, lol.

The first thing we did when we got inside the con was stare at the really full cloakroom at the entrance. It didn't take many seconds before a person (I assume a con worker) stepped up and kindly informed us that there's another cloakroom upstairs that we could use that is much less crammed. I said my thanks and we hurried upstairs. It might not seem like much but already this small but observing and thoughtful gesture gave me a good first impression because, honestly, I've been to some cons on which information has been really lacking. So yeah, we left our jackets and I left my hoodie hanging upstairs and then we headed back downstairs to go on the obligatory first exploration round.

Entrance view. Information desk in front.
These Daleks were at the entrance.
Entrance, aka first floor view. Stairs leading upstairs visible.
Despite it being a school building it didn't really feel like a school building, ya know? At least not the main areas because they were quite spacious, modern, very light and luminated and thus gave me the impression that it's a nicer building, lol. But I can admit that the corridors looked very schooly.
I was positively surprised by how easy it was to find empty chairs to sit on though, despite how it seemed like there was a lot of people around at all times.

The Dealer's Hall was really crammed, not gonna lie. It was a bit hard to move around there occasionally and get in the front to actually be able to see and buy things.
I was really excited when I noticed a portfolio with old Pokémon cards lying below the table of one of the sellers. I picked it up and started going through it and the nostalgy levels were high – I even found some cards that I wanted to add to my collection! Before going to the con I was actually hoping that there would be someone selling Pokémon card singles, as I had seen it at Matsucon last year. My hopes were fulfilled. x)

Pokémon cards for sale! *excited screaming*
Except for the cards I was also surprised by the amount of sellers who sold stuff like pocky and ramune as there seemed to be so many! Ramune is still too expensive on my watch, although I find myself temptated anyway. Suffer in silence, you shall.

Urumi was there, as always. I appreciate legit merch sellers.
Of course the Ginga Densetsu Weed plushies were available!
There was a fair amount of fashion stuff available as well.
Pocky heaven...
... and ramune heaven. :DD
There was a respectable amount of sellers (especially considering small-cons-in-the-north standards) and I liked how the Artist's Alley was separated from the Dealers's Hall by being on different floors. Artist's Alley was on the second floor and, it might just be me, but I'm pretty sure there were more tables than average. I ended up buying some beautiful fridge magnets by SaQeArt, a winter-themed fox magnet and one depicting Amaterasu's head from Ōkami, one of my all-time favorite video games. There was a lot of tables with really nice art for sale!

View of the second floor.
Second floor but from a different angle.
Beautiful art by Waittiz and Sysirauta. ♥
Super nice Pokémon stickers by Kristmarian. ♥
Every time I check Artist's Alley I'm on the lookout for more magnets to decorate my fridge and freezer with, haha. It's the main thing I check for and if I find art that I like I'm almost certain to buy one. x) *hinthint* I love stuff that's decorative and useful at the same time and that brightens up my day – magnets do all of those and they add that personal, geeky touch to my home. I would buy stickers otherwise but I can't deal with the thought that they'd eventually get worn out. ;_; I want my con memories to last for years.

Galazy muffins at the Dealer's Hall.
I didn't run into any familiar faces at Kummacon but despite that I really enjoyed my time there – the whole con felt bubbly and somehow really inviting. It was as if I almost had in my grasp that little something, that I had lost along the way, and which is what made going to cons fun for all those years ago when I first started – Kummacon had a bit of that magic feeling. It's really hard to pinpoint what exactly it is but I guess it's something with the light-hearted mood of the con, coupled with the way it seemed to flow so effortlessly and how it just felt like a small family instead of the dreaded "we and them" camps.

Kummacon's LGBTQ+ booth.
I'm not aware of the con's inner workings but in my eyes it seemed to work well. Every time I went to the info desk I got really helpful and clear answers, despite being a really awkward person and asking potentially dumb questions like "where's the toilets" as I literally didn't find them myself this time. xD Kummacon had water drinking spots laid out etc and activity rooms were marked with funny signs that raised the mood. Speaking of which, I adored the effort the Kummacon people had put into decorating the con to match the cosmos and space theme! There were countless galaxy artworks (seemed to be painted on black plastic bags as canvas) spread around the con, funny Star Wars signs and a lot more. There was even a Yoda and a Chewbacca plush doll sitting at the info desk and being all cute. x)
The silly decorations had me smiling all along and they really set the atmosphere just right – it's the small things that make the experience go from good to great. I wish more cons bothered to spice up the con building with hilarious geeky signs.

Info sign in Yoda speech. Genius.
First-aid sign. These cat signs were so cute!
A reminder sign to drink water.
It seemed like Kummacon also had in use the backyard(?) of the school. There was some kind of playground in there and it was overall a nice area to just hang around with if you wanted more space (pun not intended). The front yard was also a good place to chill at and there was even a statue in front that was a Pokéstop, fuck yeah! Someone kept putting lures on it too and so I just sat upstairs and caught whatever mon that spawned. xD

Funny sign leading to the backyard(?).
Pun is "outer space" as in outdoors, haha.
I had originally assumed that we'd get to be at the con until it closed at 18:00 (I had planned to wear the horse mask later on but yeah, it didn't happen cuz sudden leave) but mom called me when the clock was around 15-16 something and said that they were done shopping and asked if we were ready to go. Me and Frozen Angel were pretty much done exploring so we thought we had seen enough to feel satisfied. Of course I could have stayed longer (it was fun to just hang around) but as it was just a day trip we were both dependant on getting a ride back from le parents. x)

Kummacon had a board game room and a karaoke room
but sadly no video game room.
I left Kummacon behind feeling really content. I went in with my typical low expectations for a small con and came out feeling that it's without a doubt one of the best small cons that I've attended in a long time. The quality was really good considering that I didn't pay a single coin for the experience – perhaps the only thing I'm a bit meh about is that there was no video game room at all. But, then again, I was so busy playing Pokémon Go because of the lure opportunity that it didn't really matter much anyway. xD

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kummacon was a really pleasant experience, all in all. I'd definitely go there again and I approve of the international school as a con location. Kummacon had the charm and feel on point while still having enough to offer to keep you smiling and entertained. The decorations really set the mood just right and I enjoyed how friendly, humble and relaxed the whole con felt. Everything seemed to be arranged and planned with care and I didn't experience anything that made me feel uncomfortable either.
I hope Kummacon can keep on being a free event and keep the current quality, as this was definitely a 5/5 achievement in my books. I didn't really feel bored at any point and despite not attending any activities or panels I still had a good time just chilling and savoring the happiness and community vibes that were all around me.
I'm probably repeating myself a lot but fuck it, Kummacon nailed it in small-con-standards and I'm super happy that I spent a Saturday of my life to go give it a visit. It's really refreshing to see a quality con, albeit small, that's going around without money bills flashing in front of their eyes. I've seen way too much horse manure, greed and drama with other cons having constantly rising ticket prices and then being complete flops in terms of value for money so yeah, I'm so damn thankful that Kummacon is free (so few cons are nowadays) and still does a good job. Amen.
Thanks for reading!
[Sponsored] Lens review: GEO Crazy SF-01
Hello in the house!
The snow has finally started melting up here in the north but it's still a pretty long way to spring, lmao. Half the year is winter, where's the lie? Good thing is that we're done with polar night and that in turn gives me plenty of sunlight hours to do circle lens reviews on (when I have the free time, that is). And yes, of course today's post is nothing less than a lens review!
I'll show you guys the super rad GEO Crazy SF-01 lenses, sent to me by the lovely Sweden-based circle lens shop CirclelensesEurope, also known as Cirkellinser. ^.- These lenses go under a lot of different names like Flame Eyes, Burning Flame, Bloody Wolf Eyes and several variations of those and possibly more – so if you're unsure if you're looking at the same lens, just check that it says SF-01 and you know it's the right one.
The lenses I'm reviewing in this post were kindly sponsored by CirclelensesEurope, aka Cirkellinser. Rest assured knowing that all my reviews are purely 100% my honest opinion. I never compromise the truth nor my real opinions.
The discount code "SAMURAI" gives you 10% off on any order placed on both CircleLensesEurope and Cirkellinser – feel free to use it! ♥
Base curve: 8.6 mm
Diameter: 14.2 mm
Water content: 40±2
Life span: 1 year (I recommend 6 months)
Note: To all my Swedish readers, please scroll to the end of this post for a summary in Swedish. // Till alla mina svenska läsare, bläddra gärna till slutet av detta inlägg för en sammanfattning på svenska. :)
Before I get to talk about the lenses themselves I want to tell you guys a little about CirclelensesEurope, also known as Cirkellinser. You might wonder why I'm mentioning two stores but the thing is that it's actually the same store, just for two different markets – CirclelensesEurope is catering for the whole Europe while Cirkellinser is especially for the Swedes. Both sites have the same people behind it, the same products for sale, ship from the same place etc so yeah, the only difference is basically that the other one is for people living in Sweden. Neither of them is a copycat or a scam site so no worries there – you can buy from either of them with confidence!
Both of their sites are stylish, fresh, inviting and easy to use. There is not a whole sea of circle lenses to choose from since they seem to focus on just a couple lens brands – GEO and EOS, respectively. But what CirclelensesEurope lack in options they make up for with incredibly high-speed and cheap shipping – it's a flat price of 3€ for anywhere in Europe. The fast shipping puts CirclelensesEurope at an advantage over Asia-based lens stores because yeah, if you're a cosplayer and need lenses urgently (let's say, a week before the con) then they might very well save your ass before the con gets it. xD
Regarding the shipping and handling time I want to say that I've always received my orders extremely fast – most commonly already on the next working day. Shipping to Sweden is usually 1-2 days and to the rest of Europe it's 3-7 days and it also says on their site that they ship out within 24 hours.
If you wonder to what European countries (note: they do NOT ship outside of Europe!!) they ship to then this is what it says on their site:
We deliver to following countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Switzerland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom and Austria.
Their customer service is top-notch and reliable; they seem to often answer within 24 hours, even during weekends! Customer service is also really kind and easy to approach while still having that professional touch to it. All in all CirclelensesEurope is a very easy and smooth shop to deal with, safe to buy from and I would eagerly recommend them to all fellow European (and Swedish) cosplayers and circle lens fans! They are a really good store, I promise.
 ~***~ Lens review continues ~***~
The lenses arrived in a small regular white bubblewrap envelope that comfortably fits into your average mailbox. They seem to always add some kind of cute stickers on the envelope, which is a really nice bonus – it makes it feel all the more personal and also shows that they care about each customer!
Inside the white envelope the lenses are packed in a small cute drawstring bag in varying colors. With the order also comes a free lens case, a business card with a hand-written 'thank you' note on the back, a GEO Medical information sheet (because I received GEO lenses) and, of course, the shop's own leaflet with information about their guarantees, wear & care etc – it's a good piece of advice for all the first-time contact lens users, so don't throw it away if this is your first contact lens purchase.
~***~
Before wearing the lenses for the first time, be sure to take them out of their little glass bottles and put them to soak in lens solution over the night. I do not recommend using the lenses straight out of their vials as the solution they are stored in is stronger than ordinary lens solution and thus might damage your eyes. Better be safe than sorry.
 I had no trouble inserting these lenses, except for that the lenses didn't want to center themselves onto my eyes without some additional help from my side, which quite literally means moving them with my finger (you can use your eyelid as a cover too, if you don't want to touch with your finger directly) until I see that my pupil is in the middle of the lens. It's a bit hard to explain what I mean but I just basically ease the lens into its right position as it seemed to get "stuck" off-center. ^^" This was not troublesome in any way as, once the lenses were positioned right, they did not seem to slide away from the center anymore.
One lens in.
As you can see I have naturally light blue-gray eyes and these lenses turn into these freaking cool monster eyes! You can guess already from seeing how bright the lenses are in their vials that there's gonna be some badass coverage going on. Also, if you look very closely at the vial photos you can see that one of the lenses has its print slightly off-center, I've never seen that on a lens before! It's not really noticeable when worn and doesn't affect wearing but yeah, thought I'd mention it anyway.
It's a really nifty design with a flame print in two colors, red and yellow, but when viewed from a distance the colors blend into each other and makes your eyes look an intense orange – the cosplay game is strong with these.
There is some enlargement to be found but it's not gonna make or break anything. This is not the kind of design (also applies to crazy lenses in general) that greatly benefits from huge sizes so I think it's a good thing that it's a neutral average in terms of size increase. I don't think most people want to be a moe moe kyun kyun flesh-eating being from the depths of hell... or something else that would rock flaming eyes. Unless you have a really twisted imagination and in that case, I love you.
Lens photos below!
All photos taken by me during an April afternoon with a clear sky. All close-up photos are free from color filters and such and that's so that the colors would be as true to real life as possible.
Outdoors, facing the sun.
The comfort is decent. These give me notable orange/yellow corners in my vision field whenever I move my gaze but yeah, that's to be expected with crazy lenses and especially those that have a smaller pupil hole. You get used to having your vision slightly blocked by the orange quickly (especially in poorer lights) and it's not really bothersome. Comfort is otherwise fine, except for that I did experience a lot of sudden dry bouts/stinginess that would last 10 minutes or less on approximate and then disappear. It was uncomfortable whenever it happened but if I persisted past that part then the lenses would return to feeling perfectly fine again – it was weird. My guess is that it could just as well be caused by my eyes being exceptionally dry and sensitive but I can't know for sure.
Despite the comfort not being the best possible I must honestly say that I still dig these lenses. It's a really vibrant and eye-catching lens and works great for cosplay, LARP and anything else you can think of that would require unnaturally bold orange eyes. I can see a lot of use for these fancy peepers too – vampire, wolf or werewolf, monster, Sith lord (from Star Wars), dragon, evil being, orc, witch, possessed human, mutant and a lot more. Your limits are your imagination – go wild!
Distance photo time ~
 I went for an anime look, drawing inspiration from the whole "youngsters with multi-colored hair who save the world with superpowers" trope – this guy looks like the street fighter anti-hero type who transforms into a dragon when shit gets real on the battlefield. :DD
Regarding CircleLensesEurope I need to mention that they and their Swedish counterpart sadly don't carry prescription lenses for the time being. I can't tell if they plan to start selling those anytime soon but I keep my hopes up since a lot of people have vision defects, me included, and need prescription lenses to see. My own vision defects are minor enough (-0,50 on my weaker eye) that I can get around just fine with plano lenses but yeah, if you can't wear lenses without power I'm really sorry to say that, sadly, CircleLensesEurope doesn't have what you need. :'(
Remember, if you make a purchase at CircleLensesEurope or Cirkellinser you can get 10% off any order if you use the discount code "SAMURAI" during checkout – enjoy! ♡
Short summary:
Color: 9/10
Intense yellow and red crazy lens that's really out there. Stellar choice for cosplay and fantasy creatures.
Design: 8/10
Flame design that makes you look otherwordly and superpowered. A badass lens.
Opacity: 10/10
Covers my real eye color completely, just like a good crazy lens should.
Enlargement: 4/10
Modest enlargement. It's there but it's not gonna do a big difference either way.
Comfort: 5/10
Lenses settle off-center on my eyes (I need to move them in place) and I experience multiple dry bouts every now and then, otherwise pretty good. Orange-ish corners in my vision field in poorer light. Estimated wearing time anywhere between 2-5 hours, depending on if you have dry eyes or not.
Naturalness: 0/10
Pfffffft, fuck no. :D
Vad är cirkellinser?
Cirkellinser är kosmetiska linser som till en början mest användes i Asien av idoler, modeller och liknande men som har, på sistone, blivit alltmer populära även i västvärlden – särskilt bland ungdomar som har ett intresse för asiatisk populärkultur. Det som skiljer cirkellinser från vanliga färgade linser är att dom kommer i otroligt många olika designs och färger (även onaturliga färger så som röd, rosa och lila är vanliga) samt att dom får dina ögon att se större och vackrare ut! Cirkellinser finns att köpa både med och utan styrka. Det är flest unga kvinnor som använder cirkellinser men även män, transpersoner, ickebinära och andra har insett hur roligt det kan vara att byta ögonfärg lite nu och då för att uppleva en ny look och leka med sitt yttre.
~~~~~~~~~

Thank you so much for reading!
Major kudos to CircleLensesEurope and Cirkellinser for making this review possible!
